Expedition Details

A big part of the expedition is helping both the local communities around our Amazonian Camp as well as supporting a range of environmental projects from tending reserve areas to cleaning up plastic waste which is so incredibly harmful to the indigenous wildlife.

Community Projects

Community projects in Ecuador are at the heart of Camps International Expeditions. On previous trips to Ecuador, school volunteers took part in a number of community projects. A few teams helped to develop a playground and a community space for the local children, cleaning and stripping an area of land ready for building.

The playground and surrounding buildings were also improved removing weeds and painting walls making it a much nicer place to use! Volunteers have also participated in making welcome signs, bus stops and murals for the buildings. Every expedition has something different for student volunteers to get involved in.

Environmental Projects

In Ecuador, there is also a range a range of environmental projects for volunteers get involved with. Water tanks are built to help the locals recycle the rainwater, Reserve Maintenance improving paths and signage and within the vicinity of camp, volunteers busy themselves developing and tending the eco-botanical garden.

This particular project is on-going, with recent developments being added, such as a fence to stop animals trampling on the seedlings. In the future, we are looking to construct a greenhouse to further protect the plants.
